RVT and RFA to DWG: an honest answer
Our converters do not write DWG. Revit exports DWG itself. What we do is read RVT and RFA files from Revit 2015 to 2026 without Revit, and give you the data, the sheets, the geometry and the model in formats AutoCAD users and other tools can work with.
What we do not do
No RVT to DWG, no RFA to DWG, no Revit to AutoCAD drawing export, and no online conversion. If you need DWG views of a model, export them from Revit with Export > CAD Formats > DWG.

Working with DWG files you already have
If the drawing is already a DWG, the DWG converter turns it into an Excel table of entities, layers and block attributes, with lengths and areas, for DWG versions from 1983 to 2026 and without AutoCAD. It does not create 3D or IFC from DWG.
Revit version problems?
If the reason for DWG is that the other side runs an older Revit, send IFC instead. Revit cannot save back to an older version; Revit versions explained.
Questions about RVT and RFA to DWG
Can you convert RVT to DWG?
No. None of our converters writes DWG. Revit exports views and sheets to DWG itself, through Export > CAD Formats. Our converters read the RVT without Revit and give you its data and geometry in open formats instead.
Can you convert an RFA family to DWG?
No. An RFA family can be read like a project: its parameters go to Excel and its geometry to DAE (Collada), without Revit. A DWG of the family has to come from Revit.
Is there a free online RVT to DWG converter here?
No. We do not offer online conversion, and we do not write DWG. The converters are a free download that runs on your Windows or Linux computer, so files are never uploaded.
I have no Revit. How do I give an AutoCAD user something from an RVT?
Convert the RVT to IFC, which many CAD and BIM tools import, or send the sheets as PDF with the sheets2pdf option of the Revit converter. For quantities and parameters, send the Excel table.
Can you convert DWG to Excel instead?
Yes. The DWG converter reads AutoCAD drawings from 1983 to 2026 without AutoCAD and writes entities, layers, block attributes, lengths and areas to Excel, plus PDF drawings. All 10 DWG files in our smoke test converted.
