Smoke test on 10 public files per format

50 conversions across five converters, each on 10 publicly available sample files. It shows that the converters run end to end on typical files; it is too small to give a failure rate.

Results per converter

Mean time per file in seconds

ConverterFiles convertedMean s / fileSamplesOutput check
RVT Revit to Excel 10/10 148 Revit 2017 to 2024 sample files
RVT Revit to IFC 10/10 220 3.8 to 50 MB, 22k to 415k entities 10/10 valid IFC4
IFC IFC to Excel 10/10 24.6 GlobalIds checked on 9 files 99.95% mean GlobalId match
DWG DWG to Excel 10/10 27.6 includes Civil 3D sample drawings data only, no 3D
DGN DGN to Excel 10/10 4.0 data only, no 3D

Only two checks used an independent tool: the IFC GlobalIds and the IFC4 validity of the Revit to IFC output. The other rows record that the conversion completed and how long it took.

Method

What was run, on what, and what was measured.

Software
DDC Community converters, exe ProductVersion 18.4.1, build v28052026
Machine
Windows 11
Samples
10 publicly available files per format; Revit samples from Revit 2017 to 2024
Timing
mean seconds per file for each converter
IFC accuracy
GlobalIds in the XLSX compared with a ground truth from ifcopenshell 0.8.4, 9 files, mean match 99.95%
Revit to IFC
output checked as valid IFC4; file size (3.8 to 50 MB) and entity count (22k to 415k) recorded

Limits found

  • One IFC4X3_RC2 sample failed with "Unsupported schema: IFC4X3_RC2".
  • Revit 2012 files are outside the supported 2015 to 2026 range and fail by design.
  • DWG and DGN runs produced data only, no 3D geometry.

What this test does not show

  • A failure rate. With 10 files per format, one failure would already move the figure by 10 points.
  • Parameter-level accuracy for Revit, DWG and DGN. Only IFC GlobalIds were compared with an independent reader.
  • Behaviour on very large or damaged files. The largest Revit to IFC output was 50 MB.
  • Speed on other hardware, or with several files in parallel.

The list of sample files with their sources and licences is not yet published on this page. Until it is, treat the numbers as our own check, not an independent benchmark.
